Samuel Onyishi bought his first two buses in 1995, while still a student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and drove one of them himself. Peace Mass Transit, or PMT, now loads passengers at more than 30 terminals, from Maza-Maza in Lagos to Ikom near the Cameroon border, and it is still the company many South-East families think of first when they want a cheap seat home.
PMT publishes its fares on an online booking board that splits routes into two classes: Standard, with no air conditioning, and Premium AC. This Peace Mass Transit price list is built from that board. Every figure is approximate, because fares move with petrol prices and festive demand, and the board for your own travel date is the Peace Mass Transit price list that counts.
From Two Buses in Nsukka to a Nationwide Fleet
Onyishi, born in Nsukka in 1963, worked as a bus conductor, labourer and trader before going into transport. He first ran the buses as Nsukka Mass Transit under a working agreement with the local council, then renamed the business after a dispute over a similar name and opened what he calls the first private minibus park in Nsukka.
Growth was quick: 15 buses by 1998 and 45 by his graduation in 1999. By 2019 the company spoke of more than 3,000 buses, and in 2023 its general manager said 12 cooperative societies operate the fleet.
The wider Peace Group has included petroleum, insurance broking, microfinance and a company importing the Toyota Hiace buses the fleet depends on. It assembles vehicles and makes engine oil at Emene, which is why lubricants appear on PMT’s website. In January 2021 PMT also bought a controlling 55.82% stake in the listed C&I Leasing.
Standard or Premium AC: Picking Your Seat
Every route on PMT’s board is sold in one or both of these classes:
- Standard NO/AC: no air conditioning, the cheaper seat, and the only class on many short eastern runs.
- Premium AC: air-conditioned, usually ₦3,000 to ₦5,000 dearer on long trips such as Nsukka or Ibadan to Lagos.
The gap is not always that small. On the Enugu to Abuja line of the Peace Mass Transit price list, Standard has been ₦29,500 against ₦45,000 for Premium AC. On a few Abuja routes both classes cost the same, so take the air-conditioned bus.
PMT also advertises Extra Comfort on selected routes, but its site does not say what the upgrade includes. Ask at the counter what you get before paying more.
Peace Mass Transit Price List From the Booking Board
These are one-way adult fares shown on PMT’s board for its 6:30 a.m. departures, rounded and grouped where routes share a price.
| Route | Class | Approximate fare |
|---|---|---|
| Lagos (Maza-Maza) to Benin | Standard | ₦25,000 |
| Lagos (Maza-Maza) to Warri, Aba or Umuahia | Standard | ₦37,000 |
| Lagos (Maza-Maza) to Obollo-Afor | Standard | ₦38,000 |
| Lagos (Maza-Maza) to Port Harcourt or Yenagoa | Standard | ₦40,000 |
| Lagos (Maza-Maza) to Abuja | Standard | ₦40,000 to ₦42,000 |
| Lagos (Maza-Maza) to Calabar, Uyo or Ikom | Standard | ₦44,000 |
| Nsukka to Lagos (Jibowu) | Standard or Premium AC | ₦41,500 or ₦44,500 |
| Abakaliki to Lagos (Jibowu) | Standard or Premium AC | ₦40,000 or ₦45,000 |
| Aba or Port Harcourt to Lagos (Jibowu) | Standard | ₦35,000 |
| Ibadan to Enugu | Standard or Premium AC | ₦30,000 or ₦33,000 |
| Enugu to Abuja (Utako) | Standard or Premium AC | ₦29,500 or ₦45,000 |
| Aba to Enugu, Port Harcourt to Uyo, Uyo to Calabar | Standard | ₦6,000 to ₦7,000 |
Read this Peace Mass Transit price list both ways. Coming into Lagos can cost less than leaving it: Aba to Jibowu has been listed at ₦35,000, while Maza-Maza to Aba sits at ₦37,000.
The board does not cover every pair. If your route is missing, as Lagos to Enugu has been, ask at Jibowu or Ojota and expect a fare close to the Nsukka and Obollo-Afor lines. Our Lagos to Enugu bus price guide sets PMT against the other companies on that road.
Treat any line priced at ₦0 or ₦100 as an error on the board, and confirm the real figure before you pay.
PMT Terminals in Lagos
PMT lists six Lagos terminals with full addresses. Only Jibowu, Ojota and Maza-Maza appear as departure points in the online search, so the Lagos rows of the Peace Mass Transit price list come from those three, and seats from the others are mostly sold at the counter.
Jibowu
19 Ikorodu Road, Jibowu, in the strip of coach terminals between Yaba and Fadeyi. Many eastern buses into Lagos finish here.
Ojota
Beside Biode Park at Ojota Total, towards Ketu. Handy for Ikeja, Ketu and Magodo.
Maza-Maza
No. 23 Badagry Expressway, Maza-Maza First Gate. Most Lagos fares on the board start here, which suits FESTAC, Satellite Town, Alakija and Ojo.
Demorose, Old Ojo Road
No. 106 Old Ojo Road, by Church Bus Stop, Agboju. A second option on the Amuwo-Odofin side when Maza-Maza is full.
Ajah
No. 23/24 Ajah-Epe Expressway, opposite the local government office near Abraham Adesoya Roundabout, for Lekki, Ajah and Sangotedo.
Ikorodu
9/11 Shagamu Road, at Ikorodu Garage, for Ikorodu and the towns towards Shagamu.
Where PMT Loads Outside Lagos
The East is where PMT is strongest. These are the addresses PMT publishes.
Enugu State
Six points: Holy Ghost (No. 6 Okpara Avenue, by Holy Ghost Roundabout), Ogbete (by the old Ogbete park), Abakpa (Liberty Junction, Abakpa Nike), Garriki (No. 533 Agbani Road), Nsukka (No. 64 Enugu Road) and Obollo-Afor (132 New Makurdi Road).
Anambra and Imo
Onitsha has two terminals: Upper Iweka (97 Oguta Road) and Obosi (No. 1B Onitsha-Owerri Road). Awka’s is at 112 Arthur-Eze Avenue by the UNIZIK junction, and Owerri loads at Peace Park near the Ugwu Orji flyover.
Abia and Ebonyi
Aba’s terminal is at No. 1 Factory Road, opposite Aba Town Hall, and Umuahia’s at No. 1 Crowther Street, by Umuahia Gate. In Ebonyi, Abakaliki loads at Peace Park opposite the International Market, and Afikpo at No. 9 Amangballa Road.
Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Edo
Port Harcourt has Rumuodumaya (No. 1 Airport Road, behind the Rumuokoro flyover) and Rumuola (233 Aba Road, opposite Bori Camp). Yenagoa loads inside the Bayelsa Transport Terminal at Igbogene, Asaba at 88 Ibuzor Road, Warri at 118 Effurun-Warri-Sapele Road by Airport Junction, and Benin at 119B Akpakpava Road. For a wider comparison of the Rivers route, see our Lagos to Port Harcourt bus guide.
Cross River and Akwa Ibom
Calabar’s terminal is listed at 54 Bedwell Street, behind Watt Market, but the booking board names the Calabar stop Ettagbor, so check which one your ticket shows. Ikom loads at No. 1 Mile Two Road and Uyo at No. 15 Monsignor Akpan Avenue.
Abuja and Ibadan
In the FCT, PMT has Utako (No. 39 Ajose Adeogun Street, off Obafemi Awolowo Way), Gwagwalada (Dagiri, along the Lokoja road) and Mararaba Junction on the Keffi road, and the booking search also lists Zuba. Ibadan’s terminal is at Samonda, on the University of Ibadan to Sango road.
The route search also names Jos, Kaduna, Minna, Ilorin and Akure, but the terminals page lists no office there, so confirm the boarding point before you pay.
Peace Mass Transit Online Booking, Step by Step
- Choose your departure terminal, destination, date and number of seats. A filter lets you pick the bus class.
- Compare departures, each with its fare and seats left.
- Pick your seat, then either pay online or reserve and pay at the terminal.
- Wait for confirmation. PMT issues the ticket only after the payment provider verifies the money, and closing the payment window does not turn a pending bank transfer into a paid booking.
- Keep your booking code. The Track Booking page uses it.
The search results are the live Peace Mass Transit price list for your date, so check them even if you plan to pay at the counter. You can add Peace Mass Transit online booking to your phone’s home screen as a web app. For help, use the contact page on PMT’s website or the call button beside each terminal on its terminals page, not numbers copied from directories.
Refunds, Date Changes and Bags
PMT does not print cancellation percentages. Its terms say you ask customer service or the terminal for a change, cancellation or refund, the outcome depends on your booking’s conditions, and nothing is approved until PMT tells you so. Refunds go back through the original payment provider, so keep the receipt with your booking code.
No luggage weight is published either. PMT’s minibuses have a small boot, so plan on one main bag and a hand bag each. Traders with cartons or bales should ask at the loading bay before buying a seat and expect to pay for the space or send the goods as a parcel instead.
Peace Mass Transit Logistics and Bus Hire
PMT’s parcel arm, Peace Mass Transit logistics, works through selected terminals rather than door to door. Pack the item properly and describe it honestly. The terms say goods must be legal to carry, delivery times are only estimates, and missing or damaged parcels should be reported promptly with the waybill or tracking code. Parcel charges are separate from the Peace Mass Transit price list for seats, so ask at the logistics desk.
PMT bus hire is quote-based. You give the passenger count, pickup, destination, date and purpose, confirm your email with a four-digit code, and pay the quote PMT sends using the same booking code. Weddings, burials, church and school trips, company outings and airport transfers are all on the form. A related service, Camp Direct, moves corps members and other groups together.
What Keeps Passengers Loyal to PMT
Price is the main reason. Standard seats undercut most luxury coach lines on the same roads, and in June 2023, when petrol prices jumped after the subsidy removal, PMT kept the Peace Mass Transit price list unchanged and said it would absorb the extra fuel cost itself.
Safety is the other claim it makes. PMT says it fitted speed control devices to its minibuses from 2009, and in 2014 it trained 4,000 drivers with the Federal Road Safety Corps at Emene as part of quarterly sessions.
The trade-offs are real. A Standard seat means no air conditioning on a 10-hour drive, legroom in a minibus is tight, and most departures leave early in the morning.
Christmas, Easter and Resumption Weeks
Seats to the East disappear first in the run-up to Christmas, and again around Easter, and every eastbound line of the Peace Mass Transit price list tends to rise with demand. University resumption also fills Nsukka and Enugu buses. Book and pay online a week or more ahead, because a reservation you plan to pay for at the terminal may not hold when queues are long.
If PMT is sold out, Ifesinachi works the same northern Enugu corridor; compare its fares in our Ifesinachi Transport price list. For Imo and Anambra, GUO Transport’s fares and terminals are another fallback.
Questions Passengers Ask About PMT
Does PMT Have Air-Conditioned Buses?
Yes. Premium AC seats are air-conditioned. Standard seats, marked NO/AC on the board, are not, and they are cheaper.
Can I Reserve Now and Pay at the Terminal?
Yes, the booking site offers that option, but your ticket is only issued once payment is confirmed. At busy times it is safer to pay online.
Where Is the Peace Mass Transit Head Office?
The Peace Mass Transit head office is at 8-12 Peace Factory Road, Emene, Enugu State.
