Every ABC Transport bus carries a reindeer, an emblem the company chose for the animal’s strength, speed and habit of moving as a herd. The Owerri-based operator built its name on luxury road travel for people who might otherwise fly, and it still sells everything from 14-seat Sprinters to overnight coaches and daily services to Accra.
Unlike many Nigerian coach lines, ABC publishes fares route by route on its own booking site, so this ABC transport price list is built from the figures that site shows. They are approximate and change with fuel costs and demand, and whatever the site shows for your date is the ABC transport price list that counts.
Who Runs ABC Transport
ABC stands for Associated Bus Company Plc. It began road passenger services in 1993 as an offshoot of Rapido Ventures, founded by Frank Nneji, who has led it as managing director. Capital Alliance Private Equity bought a 30% stake in March 2003, and the company listed on the Nigerian stock exchange in December 2006. The head office is at Km 5, MCC/Uratta Road, Owerri.
Passenger seats are only part of the business. In one set of annual results, ABC reported revenue of ₦16.3 billion, with loads and waybill services bringing in ₦5.3 billion and haulage ₦4.8 billion, both ahead of the ₦3.2 billion it listed as transport earnings.
Three Ways to Ride ABC
ABC sells three distinct products, and each sits on a different line of the ABC transport price list.
Sprinter
The ABC Transport Sprinter is a 14-seat, air-conditioned bus in a 2+2 layout, with good legroom. ABC pitches it at light travellers with little or no luggage, and its daytime departures make up most of the ABC transport price list.
Executive Express
These are the evening departures, usually between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., which the booking site labels as “executive sleeper” services. ABC describes this class as an almost non-stop service with reclining seats and a toilet on board. Check what your coach offers when you book.
Shuttle
On shorter eastern runs such as Enugu to Port Harcourt, ABC runs Toyota Sienna shuttles in a 1+1 layout and slightly larger 2+1 buses. Its shuttle network covers Aba, Awka, Calabar, Enugu, Onitsha, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Umuahia, Uyo and Warri.

Three patterns stand out. The same destination can cost thousands more from one Lagos terminal than another, as the Owerri rows show. The evening Executive Express to the East is often far cheaper than the morning Sprinter. And the trip from Abuja into Lagos has been priced well above the trip out.

Rules Printed on Every ABC Ticket
ABC’s terms are stricter than most, and they affect what you really pay.
- Arrive 30 minutes early. Seats still empty 10 minutes before departure can be sold to people waiting, and a confirmed seat that is not claimed in time attracts a 50% surcharge.
- Pack light for the Sprinter. The allowance is 10kg in small bags. Valuables must not go in the luggage hold, and ABC does not accept liability for hand luggage or carry general insurance on bags.
- Cancelling costs money. ABC’s terms set a 15% charge for cancelling one to three days ahead and 50% within 24 hours of departure. Open tickets are not refundable.
- Rescheduling is cheaper. A date change made before departure costs ₦1,000 per passenger on local routes and ₦3,000 on international ones, and you can do it twice. After two changes the ticket becomes non-refundable.
- Tickets expire. A ticket is valid for 60 days from purchase and cannot be transferred to another person.
- Banned on board: pets and live animals, human or animal remains, smoking and alcohol. No passenger may travel standing.
Read together, the rules make a quick reschedule cheaper than a cancellation on almost any fare in the ABC transport price list.
ABC Transport Terminals
ABC’s own pages name its terminal cities, and its route names show the Lagos boarding points. Street addresses below are given only where ABC confirms them; otherwise read the address on your ticket.
Jibowu, Lagos
The main Lagos hub, on the Jibowu stretch of Ikorodu Road. Sprinters leave here for Abuja, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Calabar and Uyo, and the West Africa coaches start here too.
Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos
The second long-standing Lagos terminal, handy for FESTAC, Mile 2 and the Badagry Expressway, with Port Harcourt departures and arrivals from Owerri.
Bolade, Oshodi
A good choice for Imo-bound passengers, with Owerri, Mbaise and Umuahia services. Its Owerri Sprinter has sat among the cheaper Owerri lines on the ABC transport price list.
Ajah and Okota, Lagos
Ajah serves the Lekki side with Abuja, Owerri and Calabar departures, while Okota has its own Owerri service. With five boarding points, the ABC transport terminals in Lagos let most passengers avoid a long dawn taxi ride.
Utako, Abuja
ABC’s FCT terminal is in Utako, and the company’s City Transit Inn hotel sits directly behind it at 36 A.E. Ekukinam Street, useful after a late arrival.
Owerri
The head office is at Km 5, MCC/Uratta Road. Owerri is the company’s home base, with direct buses to Lagos, Abuja, Calabar, Enugu and Port Harcourt.
Port Harcourt and Enugu
Port Harcourt has Sprinters to Lagos and Abuja, Enugu has Abuja services, and shuttles run between the two cities.
Aba, Umuahia, Onitsha and Mbaise
ABC lists terminals in all four, mostly feeding Lagos and Abuja.
Calabar and Uyo

Accra
ABC’s Ghana terminal is at Avenor, and return coaches to Lagos leave from there in the early morning.
Coach West Africa: Accra, Lomé and Cotonou
ABC calls its international service Coach West Africa. Buses leave Jibowu in the early morning for Accra, Lomé and Cotonou, and the company was recognised by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in 2015 as a pioneer of luxury coach travel on the West Coast route.
ABC Transport Accra passengers need a current international or ECOWAS passport and a valid yellow fever card. At around ₦105,000 one way, the Accra Sprinter is the dearest line on the ABC transport price list, and changing the date of an international ticket costs ₦3,000. Discounts, Gold Cards and Corper Buses
Few rivals offer as many ways to pay below the ABC transport price list:
- Rebates: children under 12, students within West Africa and Youth Corpers get a discount on every ticket.
- Online offer: the booking site has advertised 10% off, with no coupon code needed.
- Gold card: submit 11 used ABC tickets from trips within a year and you become a Gold customer, with the 11th trip free. Three Gold cards earn a Diamond card.
- NYSC buses: dedicated 5:30 a.m. Sprinters link Lagos with the Abuja and Cross River camps, with similar services from Enugu, Ibadan and Lokoja.
Keep every used ticket. They are your proof for the Gold card.
ABC Cargo Express, Bus Hire and the Hotel
ABC Cargo Express moves consolidated goods daily to Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Lokoja, Kaduna, Calabar, Owerri, Aba and Onitsha, and to Cotonou, Lomé and Accra by charter or shared load. It also offers door-to-door delivery, 24-hour delivery for documents and light parcels, and charter trucks of 3.5, 10 and 22 tonnes.
Insurance is optional, at 0.5% of the declared value. ABC will not carry foreign textiles, jewellery, bearer cheques, narcotics, human remains, live animals, ammunition or currency. Waybill charges are separate from the ABC transport price list for seats, so ask at the cargo desk.
Groups can request bus hire, car hire or a tour package through a form on the website, choosing an air-conditioned bus or not. The City Transit Inn in Utako is ABC’s own hotel.
How ABC Transport Online Booking Works
- Open the Bus Booking tab on the ABC website and choose your departure terminal, destination and date.
- Compare the Sprinter, Executive Express or shuttle departures, each with its fare and seats left.
- Pick your seat, enter passenger details and pay online.
- Use Manage Bookings to reschedule, and the Refund Status page to follow up a refund.
You can also book by phone and then confirm the booking on the website’s Confirm Phone Booking page. For contact details, use the Contact page on ABC’s official website rather than numbers copied from directories. An ABC app exists, but many users report it failing to open, so the website is the safer route for ABC transport online booking.
Getting the Best From an ABC Trip
- Price every Lagos terminal. Bolade, Jibowu and Ajah can differ by thousands of naira on the same route and day.
- Use the evening coach for the East. If you can sleep sitting up, the Executive Express often undercuts the morning bus.
- Change, do not cancel. A ₦1,000 reschedule beats a 15% to 50% cancellation charge.
