Ibom Air’s very first commercial flight, on 7 June 2019, took off from Uyo bound for Lagos. That route is still the backbone of the state-owned airline, and it remains the only nonstop link between Lagos and Akwa Ibom. With no rival carrier, the Lagos to Uyo flight price is simply whatever Ibom Air is charging for your date.
That makes the fare easier to read than on crowded routes, but there is no second airline to fall back on when flights fill in December. The figures below are approximate and change often, so confirm the live price before you pay.
How the Day’s Flights Are Spread
A typical Ibom Air Lagos to Uyo timetable has three departures from MMA2: one early in the morning around 7:30 a.m., one late in the morning around 11:30 a.m. and one mid-afternoon around 3:30 p.m. Some schedules show only two a day, so check your date. The Lagos to Uyo flight time is about 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes for roughly 537 km, usually on the airline’s CRJ900 jets, although its fleet also includes Airbus A220s.
With only one airline, the Lagos to Uyo flight price depends mostly on how full your chosen flight is, so a quieter departure on the same day can be cheaper. Each departure also suits a different kind of trip:
- The early flight lands before 9:00 a.m., so you can be in Uyo town by mid-morning. It is the only way to make a morning meeting there. Ibom Air’s Lagos counters open at 5:30 a.m. for early departures, so from Lekki or Ajah you are leaving home around 4:30 a.m.
- The late-morning flight is the easiest for most Lagos residents. You miss the worst of the morning traffic and can be in Uyo town by early afternoon.
- The mid-afternoon flight is the last of the day. It lands in time for the drive from the airport in daylight, but if it is delayed you will be on the road after dark.
Air Peace still lists Lagos to Uyo among its city pairs and once flew the route from MMA2, but its fare calendar for the route has shown no offers for months ahead. Book Ibom Air and treat anything else as a bonus. Our Ibom Air booking guide explains how to pay, change a flight and claim a refund.
Lagos to Uyo Flight Price: Economy and Premium Economy
On ordinary dates, the lowest Ibom Air Lagos to Uyo one-way fares seen on booking sites start at about ₦124,000, and the cheapest Uyo to Lagos seats from about ₦127,500. Return tickets start at roughly ₦248,000. Book late on a busy flight and expect something nearer ₦160,000 to ₦190,000 one way, in line with what Ibom Air has charged for Christmas dates.
Ibom Air sells several fare classes, and the rules matter as much as the price:
| Fare type | Checked bag | Free change | Refund |
|---|---|---|---|
| Special Promo | Shown at booking | No changes at all | Non-refundable |
| Economy Saver | 20 kg, one bag | No | Non-refundable |
| Economy Discount + and ++ | 20 kg, one bag | No | Refundable, minus charges |
| Premium Economy | 30 kg, one bag | One free change | Refundable, minus charges |
Premium Economy costs more, but it can be the cheaper choice overall. If you are carrying a 28 kg suitcase, an economy ticket leaves you paying for 8 kg at the counter rate, which Ibom Air does not publish in advance. If your dates might move, the free change can be worth more than the difference in the Lagos to Uyo flight price between the two cabins.
What Happens at Christmas
Christmas is the one time the fare jumps sharply. Reports from two festive seasons put Ibom Air’s economy fare for December travel at about ₦152,700 and then about ₦190,800. That is a real increase, but modest beside the South-East routes, where BusinessDay found Air Peace charging ₦350,500 for Christmas seats from Lagos.
The cheapest December seats go first, and with no second airline the next bucket up is the only option. If you are going home for Christmas, fix the Lagos to Uyo flight price by October or early November. Book the return at the same time rather than leaving it until you are already in Uyo.
MMA2 Check-In and the One-Bag Rule
All of Ibom Air’s domestic flights leave Lagos from MMA2, the privately run domestic terminal, while its flights to Accra use the international side. Online check-in opens 24 hours before departure and closes an hour before. At the airport, counters open two hours before take-off and shut 45 minutes before. Miss that cut-off on a Special Promo ticket, which cannot be changed, and you can lose the whole Lagos to Uyo flight price.
On baggage, the details that most often catch Uyo travellers out are these:
- Economy fares allow one checked bag of up to 20 kg, so two 10 kg bags can be charged as an extra piece even though together they weigh only 20 kg.
- The cabin bag must weigh no more than 7 kg and fit within 56 x 45 x 25 cm.
- Infants get their own 10 kg checked bag plus a baby care bag.
- During online check-in you can buy extra allowance in 20 kg pieces, which saves a queue at the excess desk.

Victor Attah International Airport: Plan the Drive Before You Land
The airport that serves Uyo is not in the city. Victor Attah International Airport sits about 24 km south-east of central Uyo and about 16 km north-west of Oron. It opened in 2009 as Akwa Ibom International Airport and was renamed in 2018 after Victor Attah, governor of the state from 1999 to 2007. The federal government approved it for full international operations in November 2025, and in June 2026 Ibom Air began scheduled flights from Uyo to Accra.
Since 14 June 2026, all Ibom Air flights have used the airport’s new terminal for check-in, boarding and arrivals. Make sure whoever collects you knows to go to the new building.
How long the drive takes depends on where in Akwa Ibom you are going:
- Uyo town: about 30 to 45 minutes to areas such as Ewet Housing, Nwaniba Road or Ikot Ekpene Road.
- Oron and Mbo: the airport is closer to Oron than to Uyo, so these trips are shorter.
- Ikot Ekpene: add the drive through Uyo and out along the Ikot Ekpene road.
- Eket and Ibeno: further south, and best arranged in advance with a driver who knows the route.
Bolt advertises pickups at Uyo airport, and taxis wait outside the terminal. Because the airport is well outside town, the ride costs noticeably more than a trip across Uyo, so add it to the Lagos to Uyo flight price when you budget, and check the app’s estimate or agree a taxi price before you set off. Once you are in town, our guide to places to visit in Uyo has ideas for a free afternoon.
Flying Into Port Harcourt or Calabar Instead
When Uyo flights are full, two neighbouring airports can work, though neither saves money.
Port Harcourt has far more flights from Lagos, on Air Peace, Arik, Aero, Ibom Air, United Nigeria and ValueJet. The catch is the ground leg: the airport is about 30 km outside Port Harcourt, and the road on to Uyo through Aba takes a few more hours. A Port Harcourt fare would need to be much lower than the Lagos to Uyo flight price to justify that.
Calabar is the closer option. ValueJet, Ibom Air and Aero Contractors fly there from Lagos in the morning, and Calabar to Uyo is about 85 km, roughly an hour and a half by road. Our Lagos to Calabar flight price guide covers that route.
Lagos to Uyo by Road
Lagos to Uyo by road is about 650 km, usually through Benin, the Niger crossing at Onitsha, Owerri or Aba, and Ikot Ekpene. A bus takes roughly 10 to 13 hours, more at Christmas, when traffic builds around the Niger bridges. In one festive season, transport price lists in Uyo showed about ₦35,500 for an air-conditioned bus to Lagos and ₦31,500 without air conditioning, and road fares have moved with fuel prices since.
That makes a bus seat roughly a quarter to a third of the Lagos to Uyo flight price, at the cost of a full day each way. Our Lagos to Uyo bus price guide covers operators and their Lagos and Uyo terminals.
Before You Book: Uyo Flight Questions
Is Ibom Air the Only Airline Flying Lagos to Uyo?
In practice, yes. Air Peace has served the route in the past, but Ibom Air is the only airline with regular nonstop flights between the two cities.
What Is the Lagos to Uyo Flight Time?
About 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes in the air. Door to door, allow around five hours once you add the trip to MMA2, check-in and the drive from Uyo airport into town.
How Far Is Uyo Airport From the City?
About 24 km, or 30 to 45 minutes by car to most of Uyo. It is closer to Oron than to the state capital.
Can I Fly From Uyo Straight to Accra?
Yes. Ibom Air launched scheduled nonstop flights between Uyo and Accra in June 2026. Check the days it operates before planning a connection from Lagos.
Is the Return Fare the Same as the Outbound?
Not always. The cheapest Uyo to Lagos seats have tended to cost a few thousand naira more than Lagos to Uyo, so price each direction separately if your dates are flexible. The Lagos to Uyo flight price is often the lower of the two.
One airline and a short flight make the Lagos to Uyo flight price one of the easier domestic fares to plan around. Pick the departure that fits your day, choose the fare class that matches your luggage, and book early when December is coming.
