Cinema Ikeja (2026): Silverbird, VIVA, Genesis, Ticket Prices and How to Book

Moviegoers in a cinema foyer in Ikeja, Lagos

Search for a cinema Ikeja has to offer and you get a pile of directory pages. Some list screens that are across the lagoon in Lekki, some repeat price tables from years ago, and some still use a supermarket’s name for the mall. If you only have one evening, you need to know which doors are open and what you will pay at them.

For a cinema Ikeja Lagos visitors can rely on, two are listed inside Ikeja itself and a third is a short drive down Ikorodu Road. Below you will find where each one is, what its own price list and booking page say, how to buy a ticket without being caught out by the no-refund rule, and what to expect on parking and transport.

Every Cinema Ikeja Residents Can Use

Lagos showtime listings name two cinemas in Ikeja proper: Silverbird and VIVA. Genesis in Maryland is the nearest alternative, and one more screen sits on the Iju Road side, outside the business district. The table sets the cinemas in Ikeja and on its edges side by side.

There is no IMAX Ikeja screen. The IMAX most Lagosians mean is Filmhouse in Lekki Phase 1, and none of the cinemas above advertises one.

Silverbird Cinemas Ikeja at Ikeja City Mall

This is the busiest cinema Ikeja has. Ikeja City Mall opened in Alausa in December 2011 with Shoprite and a five-screen Silverbird as its anchors, and plenty of people still say “Shoprite Ikeja” when they mean the mall. Searches such as cinema Ikeja Shoprite usually mean the Silverbird cinema inside it. Ask a driver for Ikeja City Mall, or for the Silverbird cinema, Ikeja side, rather than for the supermarket.

Silverbird’s page for the branch gives the box office hours as 10am to 10pm, Monday to Sunday. Sessions typically begin in late morning and run until about 9pm. The Ikeja City Mall cinema mixes Hollywood releases with Nollywood and Yoruba-language titles, and its session list shows age ratings such as 12A and 15.

Industry figures have put the branch first in Lagos for admissions, at more than 200,000 tickets in a year, so expect queues on weekend evenings. If you are planning dinner afterwards, our list of date spots in Lagos has ideas for the rest of the evening.

The branch page lists a box office and movie-enquiry number, +234 902 606 7603, and a WhatsApp option for showtimes. These are the contacts published on Silverbird’s own site. The page lists no premium format. Silverbird and CJ 4DPLEX announced a 4DX auditorium for this branch in April 2018, so look for 4DX labels on the booking page rather than planning around it.

VIVA Cinemas Ikeja at Jara Mall

VIVA opened its Ikeja branch in December 2019 at Jara Mall on Simbiat Abiola Way. The mall sits opposite Computer Village, and one local write-up describes it as quieter than Ikeja City Mall. That makes VIVA Cinemas Ikeja the easier choice if you are coming from the bus terminal side or want to avoid the Alausa crowd.

The only figure from a local report was ₦3,500 for an adult ticket and ₦7,000 for a ticket with popcorn and a drink. Treat that as a rough marker, because prices move, and read the amount on the booking page before you pay. Showtimes and booking are on VIVA’s website, vivacinemas.com, and on its social pages.

Parking at Jara Mall is not confirmed, so ask the cinema before you drive. If you are choosing the cinema Ikeja commuters reach most easily without a car, this is the one to try first.

Genesis Cinemas at Maryland Mall

Maryland is not part of the Ikeja business district, but it is close enough to Anthony and Ikeja GRA to be a real fallback when Silverbird is full. For anyone coming from Anthony or Ojota, it may be the nearer cinema Ikeja has to offer.

The mall was renamed Purple Maryland in 2020, and many people still call it Maryland Mall. A BusinessPost report on the mall’s sale to investors named Genesis Cinema among the facilities it hosts. A change of owner does not necessarily touch the cinema, but check showtimes on genesiscinemas.com or call before a special trip.

In a published ranking of Lagos cinemas by admissions, the Genesis branch at Maryland Mall placed sixth, with an average ticket of about ₦5,500. That is an average across all sales, not a price list.

The Heritage Centre Screen

A cinema inside the Heritage Centre mall on Iju Road, Ifako-Ijaiye, appears under the names THC Cinemax and Nile Cinemas at THC. It is on the Ifako-Ijaiye side, outside the Ikeja business district. Sessions are not shown on its public pages, and one review says seats can be booked online or at the counter. Phone or message before travelling.

Cinema Ikeja Ticket Prices and Booking

What Tickets Cost

Ikeja City Mall cinema ticket prices are on Silverbird’s own price list, the clearest published figure and the nearest thing to a cinema Ikeja ticket price list that any operator publishes. A standard Ikeja ticket is quoted as a flat ₦12,700 to ₦14,300 including popcorn and a drink, a 3D ticket as ₦17,000 flat, and a Bollywood ticket as ₦14,300 flat. School excursions on weekdays are listed at ₦6,000 to ₦7,000 a head. No promotion days are listed for Ikeja.

Those bundle prices are far above the industry average, which an annual ranking put at about ₦4,000 a ticket for this branch. The gap is a warning that the price you actually pay depends on the film, the day and whether you buy a bundle. Directory pages often repeat a cinema Ikeja price from years ago, so read the amount on the booking page, and compare the ticket-only price with the bundle before you tick the box.

At VIVA and Genesis, work out the cost of snacks separately. A cheap ticket stops being cheap if popcorn and a drink are bought at counter prices on top. Prices change, so confirm the amount on the cinema’s booking page.

Booking Step by Step

  1. Open the cinema’s page and read the session list. For Silverbird, that is the Ikeja City Mall page on silverbirdcinemas.com, which also offers WhatsApp showtimes.
  2. Choose the film, the time and your seats, and check the age rating. Photo ID may be requested for age-restricted films, and entry can be refused without a refund.
  3. Pay online and save the booking number. Silverbird says online tickets are collected at the cinema they were bought for, with proof of purchase, and that it may charge a booking fee per ticket.
  4. Read the refund rule before you pay. Silverbird’s terms say online tickets are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged, except when a film is cancelled or rescheduled. Book only when your plans are fixed.
  5. Arrive 20 to 30 minutes early on Friday and Saturday evenings, because box office queues and car parks can fill up.

If you prefer the counter, buy it there and keep the receipt. VIVA and Genesis set their own terms, so ask about refunds before you pay.

Getting There and Where to Park

Wherever you book, a cinema Ikeja trip is mostly a transport question, so settle the route before the film.

Ikeja City Mall is on Obafemi Awolowo Way in Alausa, the district that also holds the Lagos State Secretariat. Locals shorten the name to ICM, so typing ICM Ikeja into a ride-hailing app or a map works as well as the full name. The mall has charged for parking since its early years, and a ₦300-an-hour fee in 2012 led tenants to close their shops in protest. Expect to pay and ask at the entrance for the current rate. Allow extra time on weekday evenings, or use a ride-hailing car with a clear drop-off point.

Jara Mall is on Simbiat Abiola Way, opposite Computer Village. The Red Line has an Ikeja station, and our Lagos Red Line guide lists the stations and the fare card, but check the walking route from the station to the mall on a map before you rely on it.

Maryland Mall is on Ikorodu Road, which buses and ride-hailing cars use heavily. Agree a pickup point for the return before the film starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is There an IMAX Cinema in Ikeja?

No. The nearest is the Filmhouse IMAX in Lekki Phase 1, on the Island. Silverbird’s Ikeja page lists no premium format, so a search for IMAX Ikeja will not lead to a screen.

Which Cinema Ikeja Offers Is Cheapest?

Silverbird’s published bundles are the highest figures here. VIVA’s only reported figure, ₦7,000 with popcorn and a drink, is lower, and the Genesis branch averages about ₦5,500 a ticket. Check the live cinema Ikeja ticket price before you set off, because none of these is a fixed rate.

Can I Get a Refund on a Silverbird Ticket?

Only in limited cases. The terms say tickets bought online are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged, unless a film or event is cancelled or rescheduled.

Is Ikeja City Mall Still Called Shoprite Ikeja?

Some people still call it that, because Shoprite anchored the mall when it opened. For a cinema trip, use the mall name or the Silverbird cinema in your ride-hailing app.

Pick Your Screen Before You Leave Home

Whichever cinema Ikeja offers suits your evening, choose Silverbird for the biggest choice of sessions, VIVA for a quieter mall near Computer Village, or Genesis if Ikorodu Road suits you better. Check the session on the cinema’s own page, book with the refund rule in mind and plan the return trip.
