Lagos to Warri Bus Price: Who Goes Direct, the Sapele Road and Effurun Terminals (2026)

Lagos to Warri Bus Price: Who Goes Direct, the Sapele Road and Effurun Terminals

On the trip from Lagos to Warri, the hard part is usually the last 110 km, not the first 300. The run to Benin City is long but familiar; the road on from Benin through Sapele is the stretch that can turn a seven-hour journey into a night on the road when the rains have chewed it up.

The Lagos to Warri bus price is modest next to a flight into Osubi, and several operators sell through tickets from mainland Lagos. Which company you pick, where it boards and where it drops you in Warri or Effurun matter more than the few thousand naira between them.

Fares move with petrol prices and season, so treat these as approximate and confirm on the operator’s website, app or counter before paying.

ABC’s booking site has priced the Jibowu to Warri seat at ₦43,650 and the return from Warri to Jibowu at ₦46,150, so the trip back can cost a little more. PMT’s Maza-Maza fare is for its Standard class, which has no air conditioning; ask whether a Premium seat is offered on your date.

Across the branded lines, a seat usually falls between about ₦35,000 and ₦48,000 one way. Sienna-type vehicles, where offered, cost more. Christmas and Easter push every Lagos to Warri bus price up, and seats from Lagos sell out first in the week before Christmas.

Who Sells a Bus From Lagos to Warri

ABC Transport

ABC does not run a separate Warri coach. Its Jibowu to Port Harcourt Sprinter, a 14-seat bus that leaves at about 6:30 a.m., goes by way of Warri and sells Warri as a destination. Heading back, the same service picks up in Warri at about 10:00 a.m. on its way from Port Harcourt to Lagos.

Because the seat sits on a longer route, ABC’s Lagos to Warri bus price is only about ₦4,000 to ₦5,000 below its Port Harcourt fare. ABC’s Warri terminal also runs shuttles east to Owerri, Umuahia, Calabar and Uyo. Luggage rules and terminals are covered in our ABC Transport price list.

Peace Mass Transit

PMT, the Enugu-based line, sells Warri seats from its Maza-Maza terminal on the Badagry Expressway. Its Warri terminal is at 118 Okorodudu, by Airport Junction. PMT’s two-class system is worth knowing: Standard seats have no air conditioning and cost less than Premium, which is why PMT shows the lowest Lagos to Warri bus price in the table above.

Libra Motors

Libra, a Lagos company established in 2003 with its head office on Okota Road, lists a Warri terminal at 134 Warri-Sapele Road, Effurun, by Airport Junction. In Lagos it boards at ten terminals, including Jibowu, Mile 2, Maza-Maza, Iyana Ipaja and Ajah. Libra warns that luggage is searched at the terminal before boarding, so arrive early. Its routes and booking channels are in our Libra Motors price list.

GUO, Delta Line and Others

GUO lists Lagos to Warri among its routes, so check its site for your date. Delta Line, the Delta State transport company in which GIGM bought a 60% stake in 2018, has run terminals across the state, including one in Effurun. Other Midwest and Delta lines also work this road, but schedules change, so confirm with the company before you go to the park.

Lagos to Warri by Road: Benin First, Then Sapele

The Lagos to Warri distance by road is about 415 to 430 km. The journey falls into three parts:

  1. Lagos to Benin City, about 315 km. Out on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, east at the Sagamu interchange, then through Ijebu-Ode, Ore, Ofosu and Okada into Benin.
  2. Benin to Sapele, about 60 km. South on the Benin-Sapele road through Ologbo, Mosogar and the Oghara junction to the Amukpe roundabout outside Sapele.
  3. Sapele to Warri, about 50 km. Through Elume and Adeje into Effurun, where many interstate buses finish.

Lagos to Warri by road has no shortcut that avoids Benin. The coastal highway being built from Lagos does not yet reach Delta, so every coach passes Benin’s outskirts and takes the Sapele road.

The Benin-Sapele-Warri Road in the Rainy Season

This is the stretch to plan around. Vanguard reported that the federal road deteriorates every rainy season, with flooded, crater-ridden sections that turn a few-hour trip into an overnight ordeal. Trailers break down or overturn and block the road. One motorist described spending four hours between Elume and Amukpe after a trailer fell.

The worst point has been from the Amukpe roundabout to Sapele. When it jams, drivers divert onto community roads that link to the Eku-Sapele road, which adds distance and has pushed up Warri to Sapele fares.

Your ticket covers the trip however long it takes, so the rainy season costs you hours rather than a higher Lagos to Warri bus price. There is movement on repairs. On 28 August 2026, the NDDC flagged off reconstruction of a failed 15.4 km section of the Benin-Sapele road in rigid concrete pavement, after a presidential directive, with contractors working from both ends. Until that work is finished, assume the Benin-Sapele-Warri road can add two or more hours in the rainy months, and less in the dry season.

Journey Time, Departure Hours and Safety

On a dry day with an early start, a bus from Lagos to Warri takes about 7 to 9 hours. ABC’s timetable gives a sense of the rhythm: leave Jibowu at 6:30 a.m., reach Benin around late morning, and get to Warri in the early afternoon. In the rains, or on a Friday before a holiday, allow 10 hours or more.

Why the Lagos end matters too: a bus that leaves at 6:30 a.m. clears the Berger and Sagamu traffic before it builds, while a later start can lose an hour or more before Ijebu-Ode.

Security on the Benin approaches deserves respect. BusinessDay recorded gunmen attacking a GUO bus on the Benin-Ore Expressway in April 2026 and a Young Shall Grow bus at Ogua on the Benin-Lagos Expressway the following month. Sensible habits:

  • Take a morning departure so the Sapele road is behind you before dark.
  • Use a branded operator that records names and next of kin.
  • Keep cash and phones out of sight, and send your bus details to someone at home.
  • Avoid taking an open-park car from Benin to Warri late in the evening.

Getting Off in Warri and Effurun

Many interstate buses finish on the Effurun side of the city rather than in old Warri town. Airport Junction on the Warri-Sapele Road is a cluster point: PMT’s terminal is at Okorodudu by the junction and Libra’s is on the same road. From there, taxis and keke reach Warri town, the PTI area, the Federal University of Petroleum Resources and the refinery side of the city. That last ride is not part of the Lagos to Warri bus price, so tell the driver your street and agree the fare before you get in.

Coming back to Lagos with goods, ask about the luggage charge before the bag goes in the boot, and keep the tag. Traders sending larger loads should compare the bus company’s waybill desk with a logistics service.

Flying In: Osubi, Benin or Asaba

Osubi Airport, which the airlines list as Warri, is about 10 km north-east of the city. Shell built it and opened it to commercial flights on 1 April 1999, and it has an 1,800-metre runway. From Lagos, Air Peace and Arik Air fly from MMA2, and United Nigeria, Overland Airways and Rano Air also sell Lagos to Warri seats, Overland only on certain days. One-way fares on quiet dates often start around ₦110,000 to ₦130,000, about three times the Lagos to Warri bus price, and the flight takes about an hour.

If Osubi airport flights are full, Benin City has more departures, but you then face the Benin-Sapele road by car, which is the bad part anyway. Our Lagos to Benin bus guide covers that city if you would rather split the trip there. Asaba is much further from Warri and only makes sense if you are going to Agbor or the Asaba side.

There is no passenger train from Lagos. The Warri to Itakpe train runs north from Ujevwu, near Warri, through Edo into Kogi, which helps only if your trip continues inland.

Asked Often About the Warri Bus

How Much Is a Bus From Lagos to Warri?

Usually about ₦35,000 to ₦48,000 one way with a branded operator. PMT’s Standard seat without air conditioning is at the lower end and ABC’s Sprinter near the upper end.

Which Lagos Park Has Warri Buses?

ABC loads at Jibowu and PMT at Maza-Maza. Libra has ten Lagos terminals, including Jibowu, Mile 2, Iyana Ipaja and Ajah, so confirm which one has the Warri bus on your date.

Does the Port Harcourt Bus Stop in Warri?

ABC’s Jibowu to Port Harcourt Sprinter does, and ABC sells Warri as a stop on that service. Not every Port Harcourt bus goes this way, so ask before you buy.

Is Flying Into Benin Cheaper Than Osubi?

Sometimes, because Benin has more flights. Once you add a car down the Sapele road, the saving often disappears.

Book a morning bus, pick the Lagos terminal nearest your home, and check the Sapele road news before you set off. Those three steps decide more about your journey than the Lagos to Warri bus price itself.
